The Greek Island of Naxos is the largest in the Cyclades group and features miles of white sandy beaches. The island has yet to become hugely popular with tourists so the beaches are not overcrowded. There is some notable scenery to be found inland, with Mt Zas sporting the highest peak in the Cyclades region. This is also the most fertile island in the area with an abundance of citrus and olive woods, as well as fields of various fruits. The relative lack of tourism in Naxos means that the towns have retained a traditional Greek feel. Still there is a decent range of holiday accommodation to choose from, with various hotels and rooms available.

There is much of historical interest here with stunning ancient churches, monasteries and even Venetian castles. Naxos’s central location and network of regular ferries mean that it is the ideal place from which to explore other islands in the region.
