Built in 1923 as a grand bank building, the hotel was extensively renovated with many original features lovingly restored in 1998, and has also undergone a large refurbishment programme in February 2008. It comprises 3 floors with a total of 9 rooms. Guests may make use of the foyer with 24-hour reception desk and The Bank bar, that offers a wide range of drinks and an extensive daily food menu in a cool relaxed atmosphere, making it very popular with tourists, local residents and hotel guests alike.
Location
This popular city hotel is located in the centre of Edinburgh, on the Royal Mile. Countless shopping venues, bars, restaurants and nightclubs are to be found in the vicinity. The sightseeing attraction of Holyrood Palace is only 200 m away from the hotel. Links to the public transport network also lie within walking distance. Transfer to the airport takes about 25 minutes (15km).
How to get there
From the airport follow signs to Edinburgh city centre along the A8, through Corstorphine, Murrayfield and Haymarket. At the West End of Princes Street, turn right into Lothian Road and take the first left into Kings Stables Road. Follow this road under the bridge until you reach the Grassmarket. At the T Junction turn left into the Grassmarket and continue through onto the Cowgate under 2 bridges. After the 2nd bridge take the 2nd road on your left, a small lane called Blackfriars Street. Turn left at the top onto the Royal Mile and the Bank Hotel is situated on the corner of South Bridge and the Royal Mile on your left hand side. You are able to park briefly on Niddry Street, which is the first street on the left before the hotel, while you are unload your luggage. Car parking is available at St Johns Hill Car Park by the Pleasance, where guests will receive 20% discount on parking.
